General Itinerary

Sightseeing Trip Through Melbourne City
You will be driven through the centre of Melbourne and on the way, learn briefly about the history of the city’s establishment. You will see preserved buildings with colonial architecture as well as the city’s modern buildings. Your guide will tell you about the stages of Melbourne’s development, about the long-standing rivalry with Sydney and show you the historically significant houses and structures.

You will see:

  • Parliament House
  • The Treasury
  • The Royal Exhibition Building
  • The Queen Victoria Market

Then you will go to Dandenong National Park.

Dandenong National Park
The next stop is Dandenong National Park, located 40 minutes outside of Melbourne. There you will have a walk under the canopy of a forest of colossal eucalyptus trees. These giant ferns and age-old trees are home to many unique Australian animals. This forest is inhabited by colourful Rosella parrots and noisy Cockatoos. You can feed these sociable birds from up close on a designated platform.

Puffing Billy Steam Train
A pleasant, relaxing activity during this trip will be a ride on the Puffing Billy steam train which will take you through the rainforest, and the most colourful and picturesque areas of Dandenong Park. The train travels along a historical, restored railway, which many years ago was used by the local villagers. Now it is an excellent travel destination for adults and children. This short trip through the rainforest will delight you with lovely views and fresh air. You will ride along the mountainside, through a crevice and over a wooden bridge – observing the cliffs and stunning waterfall and cross through the dense thickets of overgrown eucalyptus trees. You will have the opportunity to take photos in the conductor’s cabin, which was preserved, the same as it was over 100 years ago.

Lunch With Real Australian Pies
We’ll make a lunch stop at a cafe in Grants Picnic Area or at ‘Pie in the Sky’ for pies. Have a try of the delicious traditional Australian pies with a variety of fillings. Upon finishing dinner you will be offered Devonshire tea, coffee of a plethora of desserts.

OPTION 1:
Wine Tasting
Moving forward you will make your way to the charming Yarra River valley, which is famous for its wineries. The vast slopes of the valley are dotted with gardens and vineyards, here many varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot noir, Shiraz, and Cabernet are grown. More than 80 wineries produce magnificent red, white and sparkling wines, popular both locally and overseas.

Chocolate Factory
At the end of the tour, you will visit a chocolate factory that produces delicacies popular among Australians. In the shop at the factory, you will be offered to try cakes, sweets and sweet desserts over a cup of fragrant tea or coffee. Take along a bag to extend the pleasure of this journey for evening tea or morning coffee on another day.

OPTION 2:
Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary
If you are not tempted by wine and chocolate tastings, after lunch you can go to one of the oldest wildlife parks in Victoria. In the Healesville Nature Reserve are many Australian animals both commonly known, like kangaroos and koalas and somewhat rare animals like Tasmanian devils, platypuses, and bilbies. To familiarise yourself with all the animals in the park you will need about two hours.

Please, inform us while booking which of the two options you would prefer.

At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to the station pier by 17:00.

This tour can be extended with the Penguin Parade. We will provide you a special price upon request
