Is it true that the sun is very active in Australia and that it can cause one to get skin cancer?
Due to the existence of a giant hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica, high levels of ultraviolet radiation are present in Australia. As a consequence, skin cancer in the most common type of cancer found here. The number of people affected by melanoma is about four times higher in Australia than in Canada, Great Britain and the USA.
The situation is worsened by the fact that many Australians are descendants of the British, who have always been known for their light-coloured skin. For a person with a light skin, 15 minutes under the Australian sun can be enough to get sunburnt. Therefore people with light skin must utilise protective sunscreen.
We will provide you with free sunscreen, in any required amount, so the worst thing that can happen to you, is that you will acquire a nice tan. Nothing more will happen to your skin while you travel in Australia with Bilbytravel!
